The theories that surround Lost are about as legendary as the show itself. I admit, I am enamored with the show because it has been able to sustain a level of mystery. Earlier this week, we discussed the Top 10 shows that changed the way we view television.
I mentioned that Lost would join that list before long.
One of the main issues about Lost is that Time Travel has always been a theory that we’ve seen proven in the series’ latest season to have some value, especially after the Desmond-centric episode called “The Constant.”
I’ve often thought that Lost doesn’t dumb-it-down for it’s audience. References to Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse Five abound, characters named in homage to philosophers and even throws a bone to quantum physics. But the real success of the show is that it makes fans think about the drama while it’s off the air. It’s making it’s own rules and the audience is in for the ride because the mystery of what is going on is seductive and delicious.
The latest theory about a time/space continuum delves deeper into the enigma that Lost has is, surprising and an on-going riddle.
If you aren’t watching Lost, I won’t spoil anything more for you other than to say start watching it immediately.
It’s smart television.
