Even though the company Ana Gram says it’s not trying to make the teaspoon obsolete, their new mug is going to make it worth trying alternatives. A pair of French designers put the radical cup on display at the London Design Festival, and now they’re looking for manufacturers. So how does a mug stir itself?
By using a ceramic ball in the bottom. Much like a spray paint can, this ball is meant to roll around thus stirring the liquid. You’ve got to gently swirl the mug in order to get the ball rolling, however.
This may pose a problem for those people less coordinated with hot drinks.
But an innovative design like this may find its way into contemporary homes in the future. In case you were wondering, the ball doesn’t roll out due to the gravity of the gutter base. I’d have to see it in action before passing judgement, but to each their own.
