I know I’ve heard a million jokes with punchlines involving untrustworthy politicians, but here’s a community “leader” who takes the cake.

Try a mayor and his wife embezzling money from the town’s kids.

That’s right.

Jim Nehmens, the mayor of Adelanto, California and his wife stole $20,000 from the town’s Little League coffers. Nehmens was the president of the Adelanto Little League and his wife Kelly was a board member.

The politician and his wife were arrested in April of 2007, be he kept his position as mayor until he finally resigned his post earlier this month. The couple agreed to a plea agreement and will serve 180 days in jail.
