There’s always someone out there looking to ruin a good time. Take, for example, the case of the Idaho Vandals cheerleading squad. Who doesn’t appreciate those athletic young ladies firing up the crowd with their high-spirited choreography, tumbling routines, and high-flying tosses? The fact that they are usually wearing cute and skimpy outfits only helps the (male) fans appreciate them more. Unless you’re one of the Vandals fans who complained that the team’s new NFL-style cheerleading uniforms were too revealing, that is.
That’s right, people in America complained about halter tops and short skirts.
The outfits aren’t even that revealing! Sure, they show a little more midriff than the traditional cheerleader vest/sweater and skirt, but come on, there’s more flesh on display at Lake Havasu every summer. I won’t even discuss how much flesh is shown on broadcast TV these days.
Unless there were wardrobe malfunctions all over the place, the only people who should have complained about those outfits were the cheerleaders themselves. If they wanted to change their uniforms, that’s fine; the squad should not have to dip into their already spandex-tight budget to spring for $2200 dollars worth of private funds for new skirts and tops after they’ve already spent $4200 dollars of school money for the uniforms deemed too sexy.
It’s a waste of money and a waste of time. Cheerleaders are supposed to be attractive. If they weren’t cute, they’d be on the flag girl squad, in the mascot outfit, or wearing prison aprons.
