Tanya Vlach is looking to turn a horrible accident into a unique documentary opportunity. Vlach, an artist from San Francisco, lost an eye in a car wreck. Instead of a standard glass eye or a killer pirate eye patch, she’s looking to spice things up and get herself a webcam-capable eyeball.
She’s got a whole list of great ideas for her eye: Bluetooth capability, 3x optical zoom, a SD memory slot, and the ability to take still photos and videos. She’d like to film a Tanya-eye-view documentary of her life. I’ll be honest, if she gets this cyborg eye built in, and I lost an eye, I’d be next in line for this installation project, so long as they didn’t make it a tattooed eye.
I don’t know how often I’ve seen something and wished I had a camera with me so I could take a picture of it. It seems like every week I pass a car wreck or crazy sign or something that screams, “Hey, take a picture of this!” It’s hard to get the phone out and get the snap done while driving, though, so in a situation like that a camera eye would come in really handy.
