Today is the big day: Thanksgiving Day. We all gorge ourselves on unusual food, lounge around on the couch, then gorge ourselves again. Is there any holiday that’s anymore quintessentially American than Thanksgiving? It’s all about gluttony and family, which are two great tastes that taste great together. Thanksgiving is a great holiday for science fiction and fantasy fans too, as those two genres are all about feasting on unusual food. Check out IO9’s perfect sci-fi Thanksgiving.
The only complaint I have is that there’s something missing. I can understand not mentioning flavofibes from Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, but there’s a certain sci-fi food that was a criminal omission. I’ll give you a hint.
I guess you could throw in some delicious Gamera soup, too. It’s definitely more palatable than that awful foodslop from The Matrix, but you could probably pull better Klingon fare out of your replicator. And don’t forget to drink your blue milk! You won’t grow up to be a big, strong Jedi if you don’t drink your blue milk!
