When it comes to candy, I have a lot of things I like a great deal. However, there’s only one candy treat that I cannot get enough of, and that is the Cadbury Egg. It is quite possibly the world’s most perfect piece of candy, and the availability of those little chocolate eggs every season is the only part of spring I actually like. Cadbury Eggs are special, and Cadbury has a pretty special history, too.
I think it’s absolutely hilarious that a candy company was also one of the forerunners of the health-consciousness movement. They were one of the first companies in the UK to have a doctor and dentist on staff, and they started every morning at work with exercises. They even provided a pool and recreational fields to employees living in their Bournville factory town.
It’s a bit sad that the US version of the Cadbury Egg has gotten smaller, but it’s still one of the tastiest things you can eat. Don’t get me wrong, I love Peeps, but you can get them pretty much any time of the year. (The Easter Peeps taste the best, but they’re still out there.) Whether it’s the orange egg for breakfast (like I had today), a caramel egg after dinner, or the traditional yellow and white egg any time of the day or night, you’ve only got a brief window of time to get your fill, and time is running out.
