People ask me all the time, “Hey, you blog, right? How do I get involved with that? It seems like everyone’s doing it these days and I feel left out.” Well, the first thing you need to do is find a place to blog. There are all kinds of free places you can do it, but honestly? The only way I’d recommend someone to go is with WordPress, either on their hosted space or on a server-side installation. PopFi runs off WordPress and, for all its flaws, I wouldn’t recommend any other option for anyone blogging due to WP’s ease of use and (crucially) customizability. Thanks to these 100 free WordPress themes I found via NewsTechZilla, the hardest part about becoming a blogger is the actual blogging!
That’s what I love most about using WordPress on my own hosting space; if I get tired of my site’s look, I can change it with little to no effort on my part. Just select a new theme under the Presentation menu and I’m good to go! If you’re not technically inclined, your web-host will usually install WordPress for free when you buy even the smallest of hosting packages, and they’ll often help with installing widgets as well.
Really, if you want to blog, there is no good reason to hold your tongue. Just be careful what you say, because you can get in trouble for blog posts. These days, anyone with something to say can announce it to the world. Who knows, you might even get famous!
