Now, I’ve played around with a couple of those satellite navigation systems, and I’ve always enjoyed them when they’re accurate. To me, a good sat nav is very useful, because I hate paper maps and I’m not the world’s best with following directions. That said, whoever signs Bob Dylan to provide satellite navigation voice overs is definitely going to get my business. If his delivery of turns is as garbled as his normal singing voice, so much the better. Looks like he’ll provide me a direction home after all!
I’ve grown to appreciate Bob Dylan’s music a lot more in recent years, mostly because folk and that kind of rambling roots rock has grown on me as I’ve calmed down and gotten more open-minded since college. I haven’t always been a fan of Bob’s, but I’ve recently come to appreciate the proto-music video of Bob’s Subterranean Homesick Blues as filmed by D.A. Pennebaker for his documentary Dont Look Back. It’s one of the first music videos, and still one of the finest ever made (if only for the random Alan Ginsberg cameo in the background). Something about the track just caught my listening ear.
