New York’s Fashion Week has got to be a crazy environment. From odd new clothing trends to celebrity sightings, there’s always something to talk about when the style makers come together. However, the weirdest fashion show wasn’t by some obscure European designer’s survival sweatshirt or some Japanese outsider artist’s trying to make a name for himself with hip prison aprons. Nope, this year’s strangest trend at Fashion Week is the Snuggie.
That’s right, the favorite fashion accessory of grandmothers everywhere took its act on the road, unveiling several new Snuggie types. There’s a new pet Snuggie, “urban jungle” animal print designs, several other new colors, a new plush microfiber texture, and even Snuggies sporting college logos for the frigid-yet-fashionable tailgater. Who would have ever guessed that a blanket with a head and arm holes would become a pop culture sensation?
The college-logo Snuggie will be a huge hit this fall, because a college football game in Michigan in November is one of the few places outside of a nursing home you should be allowed to wear a Snuggie without being beaten mercilessly. (Unless it’s a Snuggie with an Ohio State logo.) But Snuggie pub crawls? Have a little pride!
