I find, in most cases, it’s best not to pry too much into the behind the scenes areas of your average restaurant. So long as it passes the health inspection and I don’t see any rats, I really don’t want to know what goes on. That’s why it is with great trepidation that I pass along these 10 dirty restaurant secrets, and regale the readership with one of my more disgusting restaurant episodes.

When I was a kid, the family used to routinely eat at all-you-can-eat restaurants, which are probably the worst sort of restaurants you can eat at, both in terms of quality and in terms of germs. However, the worst experience I had wasn’t with the buffet, it was with the actual made-to-order food. I knew not to order a well-done steak, because that’s how restaurants get rid of the worst cuts of meat, but little did I know to poke around in the rolls before eating them. Once, when biting into a roll, I pulled back with my mouth full of bread to discover, baked into the bread, was a blue plastic bandage.
Gross, right? We did get our meal free, but after finding that, would you really want to keep chowing down? I think not. Should’ve gotten them to pay for a meal at a different, better restaurant instead.
