When residents of a St. Augustine, Florida condominium community called police about the presence of a giant rattlesnake, they weren’t kidding. They weren’t dealing with any mere mortal snake, they were dealing with Rattzilla. Most rattlesnakes are 3 to 6 feet long, but the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake captured and killed by trapper Brandon Booth measured 7 feet, 3 inches long!
Most poisonous animals aren’t particularly dangerous unless provoked, but when you’re talking about a freakishly large snake, you’re dealing with a lot more poison and an increased risk to larger prey like house pets or small children. Considering how dangerous rattlesnake venom is even in small doses, a bite from a giant like that is definitely dangerous. It’s a good thing the snake was trapped and disposed of before anyone could be seriously hurt.
