Students already have to bring a bunch of stuff to school with them. Have you seen these lists lately? Pencils, pens, paper, notebooks, folders, tissues, hand sanitizer, crayons, markers, and glue sticks are just some of the things kids are expected to provide, not for themselves, but for themselves and the class. I mean, that’s reasonable, but kids at St. John’s Girls National School in Cork, Ireland, are being asked to bring all that stuff and their own roll of toilet paper.
It’s madness. Next they’ll be asked to bring their own cup of salt for the cafeteria, the recipe for lunch once a week, and a bottle of dish-washing soap to clean up afterward. I know toilet paper doesn’t grow on trees, but it’s the kind of thing a school can buy in bulk for pennies on the dollar. It’s not like it’s studded in crystal or anything.
