It looks like Boomer, the world’s largest living dog, might have a playmate out in California. That playmate would be Scarlett’s Magic, the world’s tallest cat. She’s a 17-inch tall (from shoulder to toes) F1 Savannah cat from California who is owned by specialty Savannah breeder Kim Draper and her husband Lee. She also might just be the longest cat, from tail-tip to nose, on record, which would make her a double Guinness World Record-holder.
Like most Savannahs, Scarlett’s Magic is a crossbreed between a domestic house cat and a medium-sized African wildcat called the serval. This crossbreeding is what gives the Savannah its unusual intelligence, its incredible jumping ability (8 feet up from a dead stop), its unusual coloration, and, of course, it’s impressive size. The fact that Scarlett’s Magic is a female is unusual, as most female Savannahs are smaller than the males.
Another interesting characteristic of the Savannah is their behavior. They’re basically cat-dogs. They play fetch, follow their owners around, will walk on a leash, and love water. Some of them will even splash their water out of their bowls (due to their desire to play with it) and take showers with their owners. Before anyone can ask, yes, I TOTALLY want one of these.
