Apartments seem to be getting more and more expensive. A few years ago, when I worked in an apartment complex, the largest apartments were close to $500 or so. Now, the smallest apartments are $500, and it’s only been a few years! However, bargains are out there. For example, there’s a lovely one-bedroom, first floor flat in Catchgate, Durham, for the low, low price of £1000 ($1633 US). There’s only one problem: It’s a complete disaster.
Well, and it’s an auction, too, so it might not go for as cheaply as you want, but with a reserve price that low, you know someone will pick it up and rehab it. Sure there’s metal sheeting over holes in the roof, garbage all over the floor, no power or water, and there are hanging cables everywhere, but for such a low reserve price? It’s a steal!
