In the words of the owner of Nonni’s Italian Eatery, the goal was to, “bring the meatball back to the East Coast because that’s where it originated.” Boy, was Matthew Mitnitsky not kidding. He didn’t just bring A meatball back, he brought THE meatball back… the world’s largest meatball! It’s a staggering 222.5 pounds of meat, and Mitnitsky says that it is fully edible. I think I’ll stick to my canned spaghetti and meatballs for now.
This is the third time in as many years that the meatball record has fallen. What’s with the obsession to create the world’s largest whatever, be it a treehouse or a BLT? I understand that it is good publicity, but it seems like an awful lot of time and trouble just to get your name in the Guinness World Records list for a few months.
