There have been Roomba Pac-Mans before, but never one quite like this. Using five Roombas, special software codes, and a whole lot of time, three students have designed a live-action, 3-D version of Pac-Man. The ghosts chase Pac-Roomba, which is controlled by joystick. When the Pac-Roomba hits one of the power pellets that allows him to eat the ghosts, the four Ghost Roombas run from Pac-Man’s stand-in. It’s quite possibly the coolest thing ever.
Roomba Pac-Man’s software was originally designed for Unmanned Ariel Vehicles, or UAVs, but Colorado University students Jack Elston, Cory Dixon, and Maciej Stachura turned something used for destruction into something made of pure awesomeness and fun. You can read up on all the technical stuff on Roomba Pac-Man’s programming and hardware at the official Roomba Pac-Man site, but that’s too nerdy for me. I’m just here for the fun video!
