In the wee hours of the morning on November 1, four men hailed a cab after a party. On their way to their destination, one of the light-fingered men supposedly tried to rob the hack. Incensed, he pulled over at a gas station and ordered the men to pay up and get out of the cab. Rather than go along peacefully, two of the men beat and robbed him, with one of the other men acted as a look out. The unusual part of this? The two men who assaulted the cabbie were dressed as the Super Mario Brothers. Seriously, they were caught on video and everything!
I think this is honestly the first time I’ve ever seen someone commit a crime while dressed as a famous and beloved Nintendo character. It’s hard to tell from the blurry video, but the costumes aren’t as good as the one Captain Lou Albano wore when he played Mario back in the late 80’s. However, for armed robbery purposes, they’re pretty effective disguises.
I just hope the four of them escaped on the back of a friendly dinosaur after the mugging.
