In some ways, the biggest mistake you’ll ever make is your last one. That’s what a crocodile in Tanzania found out when he confronted a group of hippos in the River Mara. The creature approached the group of hippos, but when they formed up defensive ranks to protect their babies, for some unknown reason, he thought it’d be a great idea to try to run across their backs to get away from the more aggressive members. As this resulting photo gallery from BBC Wildlife Magazine shows, that idea was made of fail.
It looks like he made it a pretty far distance before the crushing hippo mouths and tusks did their damage to him. I’m kind of impressed he was even able to clamber up onto the backs of those hippos, myself, given how aggressive and dangerous they are. That cuddly exterior belies a seriously butt-kicking beast; don’t be fooled by looks.
