As the old saying goes, “Be careful what you wish for, you must might get it.” No doubt Cheng Yu was like every other kid growing up and wished he could have dessert for every meal. Then he met Tian Mae, compulsive baker. Now his marriage is on the rocks thanks to cake for every meal. As it turns out, that’s not quite as much fun as it seems when you’re told, “If you don’t eat your dessert, you can’t have any dinner!”
Cheng says he was happy with all cake, all the time at first, but eventually it got old. “Egg cake, fruit cake, chocolate cake. I felt like a bakery dustbin,” he was quoted as saying. I can’t say I blame him; I was okay with the idea of eating cake with every meal until he mentioned fruit cake. Blech.
