A very rare copy of the first edition of Charles Darwin’s On The Origin of Species was discovered in a pretty unlikely location.  Namely, the incredibly rare book was discovered in a bathroom, on a toilet shelf.  It’s amazing just what you can find when you clean once in awhile, isn’t it?

The book is expected to auction for anywhere between $66,000 and $100,000 dollars when it goes up for auction at Christie’s, in spite of the fact that it was found on a bookshelf next to the potty.  Considering the book was only bought for a few shillings, that’s a pretty spectacular return for a little investment.  It’s not every day you find something rare in your closet!  Here’s hoping the book ends up in a museum, rather than the clutches of a collector.
