When 63-year-old Agneta Westlund was found dead in the woods, the immediate suspect was her husband, Ingemar. In fact, he was even brought into jail on suspicion and held for ten days until charges were dropped in January. Stockholm police do have a new suspect, after a year of searching: a moose. Police say that a woman was killed by a moose.
It seems silly to think someone got killed by a moose, but if deer can be dangerous, why can’t the bigger and more powerful European elk be a man-killer? If you just examine that picture, he doesn’t look scary, but imagine him dragging his antlers in the dirt, bellowing at you with rage in his eyes. When you look at it that way, he gets a lot scarier. Plus, that particular moose is a good 1,000 pounds and 7 feet tall at the shoulder, which makes even his innocent gestures potentially life-threatening.
