Once upon a time, they rules the water. In fact, they were the only creatures that struck fear in the heart of dinosaurs. They’re also still swimming around the earth today. They’re crocodiles, and there was a period of history that was When Crocs Ate Dinosaurs. It’s all part of National Geographic Channel’s Expedition Week! If you’d like to find out more about the newly-discovered varieties of extinct crocs, check out Dark Roasted Blend for a great image gallery.
Maybe it’s because I’ve seen too many bad movies, but I’m a huge fan of ancient prehistoric animals. When they’re similar to things like we have today, they’re even more interesting. Why did the crocodiles with boar-like tusks and duck-like bills die out, and why do we have the crocs we have today?
I have to admit, I’ve never heard of Expedition Week before, but now that I’ve seen just some of the cool stuff they’re discussing, I’m going to have to make it a point to catch it. I have the National Geographic Channel, and I’m kicking myself for having missed some of the awesome specials they have. That’s what I call edutainment!
