It’s amazing; some people are spending their time preparing the world for our inevitable contact with extraterrestrial life. At the same time, other organizations are ceasing their investigations into the unknown. The Ministry of Defense for the United Kingdom has shut down its 50-year-old UFO investigation unit and reassigned the Royal Air Force officer whose sole job was investigating alien sightings. The truth might be out there, but the Queen’s military is no longer interested in searching for it.
Shutting down the alien search project is expected to save the UK 44,000 pounds, or roughly $73,000 dollars US, and the former UFO investigations officer has been reassigned to another post. It’s a shame that the coolest job in the military has been closed down; as a kid who grew up on the X-Files and other super-nerdy alien programming, I’d love to be the guy in charge of the unexplained phenomenon bureau of the Air Force. The surprisingly large paycheck is only a fringe benefit!
