Hot on the heels of the Jesus bruise is another unusual bit of holy symbolism, this time invading the dinner table. This time, there’s not one, but two, so-called holy potatoes. They’re normal spuds, but with cross-shaped places inside the potato! On Christmas Day, Dennis Bort and his wife were cobbling a post-vacation dinner when they found their holy spud. Six days later, on New Year’s Eve, Jim and Connie Gross found their version of a cross potato. Both couples immediately headed to eBay in an attempt to unload their special spuds for a little extra cash.
The crazy thing isn’t that one potato was crossed, it’s that two potatoes were crossed up, and that both were discovered on holidays. Assuming you believe the official version of the stories, anyway. I’ve never really looked inside my potatoes before eating them, so who knows how many of the Jerusalem tubers I’ve eaten over the years!
