They did it. They finally found a way to make me want to donate blood. Tacoma, Washington’s Cascade Regional Blood Services has launched a novel program to encourage blood donation among the college-age. If you donate a pint of blood, you get a free pint of beer on the house. An equal exchange of blood and beer? Works for me!
The slogan of the promotion is “Give blood, get beer.” Simple, but effective! Cascade’s director of donor resources, Dan Schmitt, says that the promotion will boost both local blood donation and local pubs and restaurants, provided they participate in the promotion, which has proven so popular it’s recently been expanded. The only downside is that you have to wait four hours before your beer ticket is acceptable, due to the risk of drinking after donating blood.
That must explain why the guy in the picture looks so happy to be donating plasma. He knows there’s an ice-cold adult beverage in his future, plus he gets all the warm fuzzy feelings you get when you do something good for someone else. It’s win-win, baby!
