It was the usual Wednesday night meeting for 20 members of Weight Watchers in Vaxjo, Sweden. That’s when the group got together to discuss their troubles of the week and do their weekly weigh in. Well, apparently, they picked the wrong day to congregate, because the floor of their Weight Watchers clinic collapsed!
The collapse started in one corner of the room, then quickly spread as more of the floor gave way beneath the dieters. However, all was not lost. The group managed to get out safely, and they also managed to get the scales on their way out of the room. The meeting actually continued out in the hallway, where members weighed in for the week and the floor held firm. Officials are investigating the cause of the collapse; meanwhile, the group continues to lose weight and look for a new meeting location.
I’m not sure what’s harder. Losing weight is difficult, but not making any cheap “well, guess they didn’t lose enough!” jokes is even harder. If I had to speculate on the cause of the collapse, it’s either a broken water pipe that ate away the foundation or a sinkhole. Either way, I’m glad everyone made it out okay.
