Sara M., a teenage girl from Great Britain, was scheduled to fly out of Gatwick Airport to Austria to visit her boyfriend. Like a lot of teens, Sara is going through her goth phase, and as such she’s wearing a lot of black leather. However, she took things one step too far when she wore her spike-and-metal-plate-studded goth boots onto the airplane. She was deemed a security risk and she was forced to remove her shoes by airport security.
She was questioned by security, but allowed to check her boots with her normal baggage and was given some plastic bags to wear on her feet for the duration of her trip. She’s lucky she didn’t try to get through Narita Airport with a head cold, then she’d find out what REAL airport security is all about! I assume she’s been on airplanes before; if not airplanes, then certainly she’s been to rock concerts. I’ve been forced to leave my wallet in my car at concerts, because I used my chain wallet to avoid losing it in a crowd crush. And this was way back in the 90s!
Welcome to the real world, kid. If you’re 19 years old and think you can get away with this kind of stuff after September 11, think again. If I have to doff my suede sneakers; you should have to leave your spiked deathdealers in the suitcase.
