Reverend Felicity Couch, a minister in the Anglican Church, wanted something to get attention for her parish, the Church of St. Peter in Great Limber, Lincolnshire, England. So, she turned to artist Adam Sheldon, who promptly picked up his butter knife and started scraping. Maybe he was inspired by naan bread Jesus, I’m not sure. Either way, Sheldon turned 153 pieces of burned toast into a gorgeous mosaic of the crucifixion of Jesus that measures a staggering 6 feet tall by 3 feet wide!
It goes well with the London cityscape made from fruit, doesn’t it? Rev. Couch says the crunchy work of art is going to stay up for the next two weeks and that, so far, there’s been no sign of mice showing interest in a bit of the host. Here’s hoping that after the toast comes down, it gets preserved in some way so the art work survives. It’s actually really gorgeous, and really well done. Kudos (and powdered toast) to Mr. Sheldon!
