People love wolves. Granted, they’re not so awesome when they’re eating your livestock, but on a philosophical level, most of us like the imagery that wolves suggest. Wild, free, howling at the moon in triplicate, getting their wolf head stuck in a pipe… wait, what?
Quick, someone call Wolfie Blackheart! One of her fellow canines is in trouble! She might be needed to boil the meat off his head!
Fortunately, taxidermy was not needed. It took the combined forces of Coal Creek, Colorado, firefighters and medical assistance from the Table Mountain Veterinary Clinic in Golden, but the wolf-hybrid was freed from his unwanted metal helmet after several hours of patient grinding by the firefighters and lots of sedatives from the vets. Still, the wolf escaped with only minor scrapes and a little dehydration, which is a borderline miracle when you consider how tightly he’s wedged himself into that half-inch thick steel pipe.
Another day, another miracle canine rescue.
