So let’s say you’re Chayne “The Space Cowboy” Hultgren.  You’ve just set a Guinness World Record by swallowing a staggering 18 swords, each one over 28 inches long.  It’s an act you’ve been perfecting for 15 years, starting with sword swallowing back when you were just 16 and honing your skills over thousands of hours.  Just what do you have for dessert to celebrate your record?  Ice cream?

I’d imagine it’d have to be something soft and soothing, because no matter how carefully you ate your metal lunch, you have to have cut your insides up something fierce.   Chayne set the record outdoors at an event in Sydney, Australia, and maintains that the stunt was not dangerous.  I’d imagine not, for him, since he’s an expert in the art and has spent hours stretching out his throat with hoses in preparation for this attempt!

I think I’ll stick with hot-dog eating contests and leave the pointy-object records to the pros.
