I think that we all have an idea of what we believe life to be like on the International Space Station. I’m sure you’ve got the same mental images I do: cool white, a lot of metal rungs and floors, very sterile and padded, very science-fictiony and high tech. Well, as this great video tour of the ISS shows you, it’s not like that at all. While it is verywhite and metal, it’s anything but quiet and soothing. The ISS is actually a very busy place, with any number of people floating around, doing science things in zero gravity and taking lots of pictures of Earth.
It’s not all one solid piece, either, it’s actually 13 different segments joined together via docking ports, and they’re all shockingly cramped and small. There’s also gear strapped down pretty much everywhere there’s free space to strap stuff down, including every single passageway between modules. Astronaut life is not for the claustrophobic!
