It takes guts to try to smuggle drugs across the border. After all, it’s a federal crime in the United States. However, when you’re violating both the laws of man and you’re dragging Jesus into your crimes as an accomplice, then you’re really brazen. An unnamed 22-year-old woman from Juarez, Mexico, was caught by US Border Patrol agents crossing into El Paso, Texas, with several pictures of Jesus that she was using to hide 30 pounds of marijuana. Holy smokes!
Apparently, smuggling drugs using religious images isn’t unusual. “This is not the first time we have seen smugglers attempt to use religious figures and articles of faith to further their criminal enterprise,” said El Paso port director William Molaski. So if you’re going to smuggle drugs into the US, I recommend not using giant pictures of Jesus or roses, because they’ll probably check those first. I recommend the giant black-light portrait of Cheech and Chong instead.
