One of the best and worst things about our recent heavy snow is the melt-off. I mean, it’s awesome to watch the snow disappear slowly from streets and sidewalks and driveways, because you can look at it and guess, in days, just how long before it’s all gone. It also creates some awesome, if dangerous, icicles. Taking matters into his own hands, one Louisville, Kentucky, homeowner decided to melt the ice from his house using a blowtorch. He took care of his problem; the blowtorch caused a fire that burned down his home.
I love it when a plan comes together!
While the fire was mostly confined to the attic, the damage from flame and water was bad enough to collapse a third of the roof and leave the house uninhabitable. Firefighters say the blowtorch idea was the source of the blaze, due to the man leaving the blowtorch unattended after leaving (because he’s a moron). Personally, I blame this on an attack by fire-breathing snowmen.
