With the purchase of social media question-and-answer website Aardvark last week, yet another company comes under Google’s sway. While there’s a lot of discussion about the big properties Google might buy, and the new things they roll out for users, there’s very little talk about one of the most interesting proving grounds on the web, Google Labs. As it turns out, Google has a lot of neat services you’ve probably heard nothing about, so here are 10 Google services you should know, starting with Aardvark and working onward.
Not only is there Google Labs, there are also skunkworks for Gmail, Calendar, YouTube, Google Maps, your Android mobile phone, and all sorts of other fun things. If there’s one thing you can say about Google, they’re not content to rest on their laurels. They’re always striving to improve their service, roll out new features, and expand their audience. Not all of them catch on, of course, but at least they’re trying.
