In the second movie pirate-themed article of the day, police and authorities in Glendale, Australia, are dealing with an elderly crime wave. Theater officials at Events Cinemas caught an elderly man using a home video camera to capture a screening of Avatar. Mind you, he wasn’t going to hit the streets and start distributing bootleg movies; he was actually taping the film for his wife, who was too infirm to join him at the cinemas. In a rare display of kindness, he was allowed to finish watching this movie, but the digital recording was erased.
You’d assume that police and officials would throw the book at him as they have other pirates, but in this case I guess authorities were willing to make an exception. I mean, at age 88, can he really be expected to wait for the DVD release? That’s not a guarantee at that age!
