Given the rash of heavy snowstorms in the northeast and the general lack of off-street parking in a lot of major cities, people have been really overprotective of parking spots. If you go to all the trouble to shovel out a parking space, you don’t want to let just anybody have it, right? Of course not, that’s hard work! That’s why Errol Parker Sr. first threatened another man with a gun, then got involved in a shoot-out with police. All over a place to park!
I mean, I could understand why you’d threaten the guy… well, I don’t understand it, since it’s just a parking spot, but it makes some sense to scare the guy off with a weapon, assuming he was going to get violent. But why would you then shoot at the cops when they arrive to investigate the situation? There’s no reasonable explanation for that one.
I know shoveling snow is hard work without help. I really doubt it’s worth all this, though. You can shovel new places to park if you’re free, but not if you’re in jail.
