The one thing that is constant in the world is change. Trends come and go, brands rise and fall, and products that were once acceptable become illegal. In recent years cigarettes have been restricted and smoking banned in a lot of places. Trans-fats and junk food are off the menu. Even perfume, squeaking noises, and holiday cards have been restricted. So what’s next to be banned? YesButNoButYes has a list of 29 products that may become illegal in the near future.
While some of the items on the list are there for comedy purposes, I can see some of these bans going through. For example, public smoking bans will probably spread throughout the rest of the US in the near future, if only for health purposes. Similar bans on trans-fats and salt are also gaining steam. While I’m generally against restricting someone’s rights, I can get behind some of these bans (specifically genetically-modified food, which should at least get a warning label).
