For generations of rich, famous folks, having a nanny or au pair is about as natural as having a car or color television. It’s just a fact of life for them. However, if you believe the research from Dr. Dennis Friedman and his new book The Unsolicited Gift, having a nanny might be what turns a man into a womanizer. I think that’s what the Queen song “Fat Bottom Girls” was about. Not that Freddie Mercury was a womanizer (maybe a manizer).
According to Dr. Friedman, having a nanny exposes a boy to the idea of The Other Woman. The young baby boy, he explains, “grows up with the idea that although he will one day go through all the social and sexual formalities of marriage, he will have at the back of his mind the notion of this other woman, who not only knows, but caters for, all his needs.”
Don’t worry, ladies. You too are emotionally damaged by being raised by a woman not your mother! Rather than making girls into womanizers, it creates in women a “vacuum of need” that is filled with money, drugs, sex, etc. Apparently it’s good for a baby to be raised by one or both of its parents; who knew!
