Jennie Mitchell was a well-liked 19-year-old hairdresser. Like a lot of kids her age, she was a smoker. Those cigarettes are what killed her. Not figuratively, in that she died of cancer or something, but literally. Like a lot of hairdressers, Jennie was carrying some products in her car, including a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. She cracked a window to light up her smoke, not knowing that her peroxide bottle was leaking. When the oxygen mixed with the hydrogen peroxide, Jennie’s lit cigarette ignited a miniature hydrogen bomb, killing her instantly.
Like anything involving hydrogen peroxide, it’s really hard not to make light of this story. Gentlemen prefer blondes, and blondes have more fun, but there’s nothing funny about explosions. Still, it might be better to not carry around inflammable materials in the pursuit of beauty. Just buy a wig instead.
