Those Tigers just can’t stay out of trouble, can they? First there was the Tiger Woods incident, and now officials at the San Francisco Zoo have had to rescue a 360-pound Siberian tiger named Tony from the moat around his enclosure yesterday. The officials had to sedate the tiger before strapping him to a gurney and using a pulley system to pull him out of the water. It’s not that Tony couldn’t get out on his own; the problem is that Tony wouldn’t leave the moat voluntarily.
Zoo officials are unsure as to why Tony decided to spend four days in the moat around his enclosure, but they believe it might have something to do with his horribly cliche name. Actually, they think it might be related to senility, since 18 is pretty old in tiger years. He showed some signs of mental slippage at his last complete vet evaluation. Maybe it’s time to try some experimental therapy on him.
