On a United Airlines flight headed from Washington, D.C. to Denver, Colorado, there was an incident that occurred that could have international repercussions. A man was acting suspiciously, which resulted in a worrying terrorism scare. Reportedly, he spent an unusual amount of time in the bathroom and, when detained, made comments about a shoe bomb. That’s enough to get anyone arrested, but when you’re an Arabian man traveling under diplomatic papers from Qatar, that makes you doubly suspicious.
As it turns out, the shoe-bombing comment is believed to have been just a bad joke and the man was believed to have been smoking onboard United flight 663. Two F-16 fighter jets were scrambled to escort the plane to Denver, where it was immediately landed and the man was taken into custody. Given that the man is a diplomat, it is unsure just what charges he may face, if any.
If you needed any proof that smoking makes you dumber, just look at this guy. We know not to kiss in your country; don’t joke about blowing up planes in ours, sir.
