Every morning, I take a multivitamin and an allergy pill. I supplement this allergy pill with a dose of nasal spray, two squirts in each nostril. All this because I live in a valley, one of the worst possible places for someone with allergies to live. Not only do I get all the pollution from surrounding areas, I also get epic doses of tree pollen, mold, grass pollen, and all the other nasty stuff that leaves me a sniffly, eye-watering, asthmatic mess. Thanks to an unusually cold winter, allergy sufferers are getting it extra rough this year, with pollen levels reaching record highs.
Thanks to the cold winter, trees have delayed pollination. Now trees, grass, and everything else is blooming at once, and I am miserable. Just stepping foot outside starts my eyes burning. I spent years trying not to do anything about my allergies, because I didn’t want to become hooked on breathing and not feeling terrible, only to still suffer from allergies because nature is out to get me.
And it’s only going to get worse from here. When the pollen levels lower, the mold is going to kick in. And then the pollution from the summer smog. If I’m lucky, I’ll get about 3 months of easy breathing between now and next Christmas.
