Windows, like any computer operating system, has a lot of problems. Any time you have 97% of the world using the same type of computer, you’re going to get a ton of bugs, kinks, and nagging little problems that seem to pop up. However, Microsoft is doing something about it. The company has rolled out Fix It, which is basically an automatic tech support service that allows the computer to diagnose and repair 300 of the most common errors, as well as make specific recommendations based on the particular computer’s set-up.
However, there are limitations. Namely, the product will only work with Windows XP SP 3 and 64-bit XP Pro, Windows Vista, and Windows 7; if you’re still a basic XP user, you’re still stuck without the service. However, if you’ve upgraded that old computer or bought a new one, Fix It will be free for you to set up and use, which makes it worth checking out.
Anything that helps the computer run a little bit more smoothly is greatly appreciated. The fact that Fix It also adds in basic computer maintenance requirements, like defragmenting and whatnot, is a double bonus. If I have to show my father how to clean the junk out of his browser cache one more time, I may flip out. Here’s hoping his version of XP is modern enough to where I can get it online with Fix It and forget it!
