Eli Westlake and his friends were walking home, and as a prank, they were throwing food.  When 21-year-old Eli tossed a handful of cheeseballs at the car of 39-year-old Sarah May Ward, he made a fatal mistake.  Ms. Ward was so incensed that she ran him over with her car in what is being described as a brutal and senseless act of revenge.  Apparently, to Ms. Ward, food fights are serious business.

Authorities say Ms. Ward was drunk and high that night.  She had consumed, according to her lawyer, two bottles of wine, marijuana, amphetamines, and some antidepressants.  Basically, the Hunter Thompson cocktail hour.  While the judge agreed with Ms. Ward’s defense that the kids were doing more than just throwing food, he also said there was no reason to go dispensing Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic vigilante justice, running down young people with a car.
