We live in a modern world full of lights and sound and technology. The old monsters, the ghosts and ghouls and goblins, have been replaced, right? These things are merely just remnants of our old life, huddling in the dark around a fire and explaining away the sounds of animals in the forest. Well, maybe not, because ghost sightings are at a 25-year high in Great Britain. The Times has the complete list of sightings, with Yorkshire being the most haunted place in the UK!
According to the report Demonic Britain, which was put together by the UK television channel Living to celebrate the latest DVD release of the US TV show Supernatural in the country, there are more ghost sightings and supernatural events than ever, thanks to an increased human presence generally everywhere. Says Lionel Fanthorpe, one of the UK’s foremost paranormal researchers, “The present human population is many times greater than it was in the past. Therefore the more people that there are, statistically, the more potential encounters they might have with these unpleasant, non-human entities.”
Then again, not all ghosts are unpleasant. I mean, if a ghost kept giving you free beer, you’d want to keep him around! I tend to believe in ghosts, or something intangible that may or may not occasionally hang around after death. So, to me, this report makes sense. More humans = more ghosts.
