One of the benefits for the stimulus package wasn’t the support of flagging companies directly. The stimulus package was supposed to create and save jobs. That’s what most of the money was earmarked for, what it was intended to do, and what it did NOT do. According to a survey by the National Association for Business Economics, 73 percent of members polled said their place of employment hadn’t hired more workers using stimulus money. The economy is recovering, but the nearly $800 billion dollar stimulus package has little or nothing to do with it.
That sounds about right. The stimulus package money I’ve seen spent is mostly related to road construction or repairs, which the city was going to have to do anyway. This way, they just pay workers out of the stimulus funding and spend the money they would’ve had to use for that road repair somewhere else. It’s not saving jobs, it’s merely shifting cash around.
That sounds about right. Government money being wasted on government functions that aren’t useful.
