Ten years ago, German postal worker Uwe Mitzscherlich bought Cecilia.  At the time, Cecilia was already five years old and needed a home, and Uwe needed a companion.  It was love at first sight, says Uwe, who says of his relationship with Cecilia, “Cecilia has such a trusting character.  We constantly smooch and she has slept in my bed from the beginning of our relationship, which is unique.”  However, told by vets Cecilia didn’t have much time left, he’s decided to pay her the ultimate tribute.  The 39-year-old married his cat in a civil ceremony.

Of course, local officials refused to have anything to do with Uwe’s scheme, so he hired an actress named Christin-Maria Lohri to play the registrar, but he married his cat.  Say what you want to about Uwe and how much catnip he’s been snorting, but at least he married something that can love him back, unlike the woman that married the Berlin Wall.  People have a special relationship with their pets; some people just have more of a relationship than others with their critters.

I just really hope they never consummate their marriage.
