It’s a day worth celebrating. Part pun, part geek, all awesome. Today, May 4, is better known as Star Wars Day (or Luke Skywalker Day) thanks to the delicious pun that the name contains. “May the 4th be with you,” sounds just like “May the Force be with you,” hence today being Star Wars Day. Of course, the first Star Wars film, A New Hope, came out on May 25, 1977 (and a real Jedi knows the Force is ALWAYS with us), but why let facts stand in the way of a good pun?
It should be noted that last week, during Derby weekend, I saw a man who looked just like real-life George Lucas. A big guy with a pot belly, gray beard cut up too high on his face, carefully coiffed wig hair, the works. For all I know, it was George Lucas in town for the Derby, and I didn’t go talk to him.
