One minute, you’re chanting “Fear the deer!” with 30 other patrons in a bar outside Milwaukee. It’s game seven of the NBA playoffs, and your beloved Milwaukee Bucks are squaring off with the Atlanta Hawks. Then, all of a sudden, you’re given new reason to fear the deer as a pair of actual bucks come leaping into the fray, smashing through a pair of glass doors and rampaging through the bar!
Jay Ouellette, the general manager of the Stout Ale House in Menomonie, Wisconsin, is more amused than frightened or angered by the event. “I think they just lost their bearings and got startled,” he said. “I’ve seen this happen on TV before, but I never thought it would happen around here. It was pretty amusing.” The deer didn’t cause much damage aside from the doors they broke, and patrons and staff were able to safely wrestle the two animals to the ground to prevent any further injuries to either patron or animal.
Deer may look all cute and cuddly, but as you can see, they can be very dangerous. Those two deer effortlessly caused thousands of dollars in damage, and they could’ve seriously hurt someone (or been seriously hurt) had staff not thought quickly and pounced. For the record, the Bucks lost to the Hawks in that seventh game, so the deer support made no difference.
